Counter Installation!

When it came to choosing counters, there was really no decision.  We explored every option, took samples home, compared them to paint chips and backsplash tile, and collected several quotes.  But there was one - a huge quartzite slab that looked like the most perfect grey marble but with the durability of granite. Once we made the decision, things progressed quickly.  A team came made a template within a week, and then they got to work fabricating.  And about three weeks later....
 

... they arrived!  The peninsula piece of the slab (with an 8-inch overhang) was so large that these four big guys could hardly carry it.  I wasn't home during the delivery and installation but maybe that's a good thing - this looks stressful!

We had to shim a couple places but for the most part, it was a seamless installation..... and man, oh man, does it ever look great!  Now the pressure is really on to bring the rest of the kitchen up to scratch.  This quartzite really raised the bar!
